Gracious pink flamingo is walking on the water of the Celestun Biosphere Reserve lagoon in Yucatan, Mexico. I captured it mid-stride as it runs across the water's surface, likely preparing for flight. Its vibrant pink feathers with black tips, stand out against the blue water in which it also reflects, while a flock of and multiple flamingos can be seen in the background.
The Biosphere Reserve is part of a vast wetland corridor in the west of the Yucatan peninsula, and a protected touristic area, and it has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. Its mangroves, dunes and low rainforests are home to a huge number of migrating species, and it's particularly known for its pink flamingos.
