Raindrops glisten on vibrant Red Oregon Holly leaves (ilex Aquifolium) in the rain, creating a fresh and vivid visual contrast against a blurred background. The natural beauty captures a moment of serenity and renewal. This native to northwestern North America, Mahonia Repens (creeping Mahonia) is a low-growing evergreen shrub with multi-season interest. In spring it has glossy green leaves and clusters of bright yellow flowers which in autumn turn into blue-purple berries. The holly-like leaves become red, and rusty in the winter, a very decorative plant. I saw it growing in front of a wall in Olympia, Washington State on a rainy October day.
