Artist's Description
Four colossal presidential portraits are carved into the granite face of a mountain under a clear blue sky. Surrounded by rocky terrain and sparse vegetation, this famous monument is a symbol of American historical leadership.
Mount Rushmore National Monument in South Dakota features the portraits of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln, majestically sculpted by the American artist Gutzon Borglum, standing on a colossal cliff in the Black Hills. The monument is a historical and popular tourist attraction, and is considered one of the world's man-made marvels.
