A military man from the 18th century, adorned in a period French military uniform, stands at the center of a bridge-like walkway that leads through a magnificent stone archway. This is the captivating entrance to the medieval Fortress of Louisbourg in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Atlantic Canada. In 1758, this historic establishment was a turning point in the Anglo-French struggle for what we now know as Canada. The bridge, with its wooden planks and red railing, leads to a grand stone archway. The stone walls of the fort encircle the archway and walkway, with the interior courtyard of the fort visible in the background.
