It is a shame that they still wash their clothes in the lake. The detergent phosphates are killing the fish and promoting the growth of algae in the lake. Sorry for the negative comment, but this really needs to stop, otherwise we will soon not be able to make beautiful pictures of Lake Atitlan, which I love.

You are right Matias, but all the town sewer including the detergent used by those doing laundry in a more modern way goes there as well, in a bigger quantity :) * Not sure if they have any kind of treatment for the waste water before going into the lake. I can research it though...
