Description
The roaring Kakabeka Falls near Thunder Bay cascades over a rocky edge, surrounded by lush greenery with tall pine trees and a distant forest under a blue sky with puffy clouds. A bridge spans the Kaministiquia River above the falls, providing a vantage point for observing the natural beauty in summertime sunlight.
This is the second-highest waterfall in Ontario, Canada, with a drop of about 40m (130 ft), and it is often called "the Niagara of the North"
The name comes from the indigenous Canadian First Nations word "Gakaabikaa" - in translation: "waterfall over a cliff"
