Three fishing boats rest quietly on the grassy shoreline of a small cove of the Atlantic Ocean in Newfoundland, Canada. Two are white and one is turquoise, with registration numbers displayed on their hulls. A gray wooden shed blends into the coastal landscape under the mild sunlight of a calm August day with scattered clouds in the clear blue summer sky. Wildflowers dot the grass near the boats, while silhouetted hills rise softly along the horizon. The stillness of the scene reflects the pause between outings, when the sea softly rolls toward the beach at low tide.
I photographed this travel scene while exploring the Tuckamore area, part of Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada’s eastern province.
