A fleet of sailboats is moored along the waterfront, with their masts reaching up into a cloudy sky above the Belize City harbor. Below the horizon line, the masts and boats reflect nicely on the blue water in the golden light of the afternoon.
The aged buildings that line the quay add to the old-world charm of the scene, while a solitary bird takes flight, enhancing the sense of a calm yet lively harbor atmosphere.
The city is a well-known travel and tourist destination, mainly because it is a gateway to Ambergris Caye and other tropical islands in the Caribbean Sea.
